Dual-Track Board Loading
The double-track conveyor system achieves zero board loading time by transferring boards to the worktables in stages. This is accomplished by using programmable offsets to align the servo-driven in- and out-shuttles with the worktable and adjacent machines' conveyors. This flexible engineering ensures smooth integration of the NP-251E or NP-251E-XL into any production line. This dual track design, combined with the twin placing stations, enhances non-stop production.

Placing System
Two placing heads are each equipped with four independent nozzles. Mounted on XY-robots, the placing heads operate in alternating shifts for nozzle selection and part placement. This movement, in combination with the machine's compact size (1675 mm (XL - 2460 mm)), produces an exceptionally high efficiency rate.

Fifteen standard nozzle types are compatible with this twin station multi-function mounter. The NP-251E-XL also supports special nozzles and mechanical chucks for the placement connectors and other odd-form parts.

Fuji incorporated nozzle stations into the placing system to enhance nonstop production. Each nozzle station can hold up to 21 nozzles, 4 small mechanical chucks, and 1 large mechanical chuck. Before production, each placing head selects the appropriate nozzle from its own nozzle station. During production, nozzles are automatically changed according to program requirements or to avoid the use of damaged nozzles.
In addition to automated nozzle selection, the NP-251E-XL's nozzle stations offer batch nozzle changeover. When needed, an entire nozzle tray can be removed and then replaced with a new tray - resulting in reduced downtime.
Vision Inspection System
With one linescan camera installed on each
station, the NP-251E-XL can inspect parts ranging in size from 1608(0603) to 74 x 74 mm. By using the adjustable frame
function, the linescan camera can even inspect parts 150 mm in length. To expand the machine's placing range to include
1005(0402), an optional high-resolution CCD camera can also be attached at one or both stations.
The vision processing system uses a new enhanced
multiple-light source unit that increases its operating efficiency. The unit allows the NP-251E-XL to switch
freely between background and foreground lighting - without needing to change nozzles. This versatile
system ensures that the best lighting is used to inspect each part type.
Linescan camera (2048 40 MHz): 1608(0603) to 74.0 x 74.0 mm, uses foreground and backlighting. Parts of up to
150 mm can be supported with the use of the adjustable frame function. Standard equipment on both sides of the machine.
Optional CCD camera: 1005(0402), uses backlighting. Used as the second camera in the two-camera system.
Device Supply Units
Fuji incorporates two different types of device units, PFU and MTU, in the machine's design to expand supply capabilities, increase production rates, and minimize changeover times. The NP-251E-XL's standard configuration houses two detachable PFU-4Es (power feeder units), one at the front of the machine and one at the rear. However, a Multi-Tray Unit (MTU-10E or MTU-11E) can also be attached at the rear of the machine to supply parts by both trays and feeders.

Fuji incorporated PFU-4Es into the machines' designs to increase the production rate and minimize changeover time. Each PFU features 40 slots that are capable of supplying up to 80 part types via 8 mm double channel feeders. Feeders are quickly loaded in one simple, press-in action. In addition, PFUs support the batch changeover of feeders. Simultaneous replacement of feeders occurs by simply unlocking a PFU, rolling it away, and replacing it with another PFU.

A tape-splicing tool and built-in waste tape cutter further support non-stop operation on the NP-251E and NP-251E-XL. The optional tape-splicing tool simplifies the splicing of paper and embossed tapes - all without removing the feeder or stopping the machine. In addition, the built-in waste tape cutter allows bin removal while the machine is running.
MTU-10E (multi-tray unit): 50 shelves; capable of holding up to 100 part types by loading two trays (160 x 330) side by side. Also
contains 16 slots for reel feeders.
MTU-11E (multi-tray unit): 10 extractable drawers. Capable of holding up to 20 part types by loading two stacks of smaller
trays (160 x 330) onto each shelf. Also contains 16 slots for reel feeders.
